Hydraulic Piston Locations
If you don’t want to pay for Hydraulic Pistons, then you’ll have to try searching inspecific containers around Hagga Basinto find them. The containers tend to hold somewhere between one and seven pistons at a time. What’s nice is that resources and containers reset rather quickly, so you can camp out near a location that has containers that might have pistons and keep collecting them.
Another option is to purchase Hydraulic Pistons from NPC vendors at some tradeposts. Specifically,Zoe, Beatriz Luna, and Kahraman Reishave a chance to have Hydraulic Pistons in stock, which will cost you about 3,500 Solari.
Otherwise, you can try getting Hydraulic Pistons from other players. This can be done through direct trading in Arrakeen or Harko Village, or you cancheck the CHOAM Exchangeto see if anybody has put them up for sale. The biggest downside to this method is that the prices can vary greatly depending on the server and time that the items are put up.

It’s probably possible to get through the game without needing Hydraulic Pistons, especially if you’re working with other players and they help gather resources and materials. However, they’re part of some items that are nice to have in Dune: Awakening.
