With a name such asLike a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, one would assume that pirate battles would be involved. This assumption would be correct, as the Goro Pirates find themselves in pursuit of stolen treasure from the Devil Flags. The Devil Flags have a few different hideouts, and a few captains that need to be taken out.

With Captain Ronin out of the way, the crew should have a strong enough reputation and captured enough of the Devil Flags to set a course for Frost Heaven, the frosty hideout of Captain Shinobi. If not, there are a few Devil Flags locations in the waters near Madlantis, Rich Island and Hawaii. The number needed for entry into Frost Heaven is a four-star reputation and 220 Devils Flags.

Review: Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

Waking up marooned on a tropical island with no memory of who he is, Goro Majima does the only sensible thing. He becomes a pirate captain.

Coldwave Island

There seems to be a developing pattern with the Devil Flags hideouts. It’s typically a series of islands to invade with a couple of fleet battles mixed in. Even the treasures seem like similar versions of each other with the elements flipped. But that is all the more reason to plunder them. Who doesn’t like matching treasure sets? Invade Coldwave Island, beat down the Devil Flags and snatch up the Eternal Freeze Mirror.

Snowview Island

Snowview seems like a bit of an understatement, as one look at the map shows these islands are nothing but snow. Plus, none of the crew is dressed for the weather, but there is treasure to be found, so it’s off to the snow. Thankfully, the Devil Flags aren’t equipped for proper Hoth snow battles. Majima is tough, but I don’t know how he would fare against wampas or AT-ATs. Fortunately, it’s just garden variety Devil Flags on this island, and beating them will get Majima the Ice Goddess’s Frozen Bowl.

Glacial Island

Among a series of island glaciers, there is one named Glacial Island. As per usual, pick up some trusty crew members, put on a pair of silver long johns, and storm the frozen beach. Plunder the very valuable Snowstorm Snow Globe, and retreat to the warmth of the Goromaru.

One of the greatest Yakuza stories was told in a prequel.

Devil Flags First Fleet

There is a Devils Flag fleet sailing in these waters with some valuable treasure. Find them, sink them, and make off with their valuable Iceberg Stone. If Majima had some reputation or cash flow woes, those should be put to rest after these last two treasures.

Icicle Island

Icicle Island, an island that is nothing but icicles. It would be cool to see Majima fashion some new pirate weapons out of icicles. It would be quite a site to see him impale Captain Shinobi with a giant icicle, but the developers had other ideas. Assemble the crew, give them a thrashing with the cutlasses and plunder a Ring of Frost.

One more fleet stands between the Goromaru and Captain Shinobi’s hideout. Assemble the crew, sink the minion vessels and storm the boss’s ship once it’s been sufficiently battered by cannon fire. After that, it’s time to face Captain Shinobi on Frost Island.

Frost Island

Captain Shinobi’s ship is sunk, but he’s still prepared for the final snowdown against Majima. The fight is a large scale brawl, but if Majima picked his strongest crew members it shouldn’t be too bad of a fight. The remaining treasure is the Dark God’s Saxophone, and having acquired the Dark God’s guitar on the previous island, Majima is on his way to becoming a pirate Ihsahn.

Now that Majima has taken out all the lieutenant captains and acquired all four of the Dark God’s instruments, it’s time to take the Goro Pirates to Final Heaven and put an end to the Devil Flags for good.
