Recently, Vin Diesel revealed he wanted RDJ to play a new character in theFast and Furiousmovie, who would challenge the Toretto mentality, sparking mixed reactions among fans. Some took to the internet to troll Diesel for his idea.

On Thursday night at theFast Xtrailer premiere, Variety’s Marc Malkin had a chance to catch up withVin Diesel, the man behind the wheel as the legendary Dom Toretto. When asked about his dream casting for the next film in the franchise, Diesel didn’t hesitate to give one name:Robert Downey Jr.

But what role could RDJ play in the high-speed world ofFast and Furious?
Vin Diesel teased a character who is the complete opposite of Dom, promoting the advancement of AI and self-driving cars while holding a belief that this technology represents the future. TheBloodshotstar explained,
“There’s a character who is the antithesis of Dom who is promoting AI and driverless cars and a philosophy that with that goes your freedom. There is somebody that believes that’s the future, and that’s at direct odds with the Toretto mentality.”

When asked if he had already pitched the idea to Downey Jr., Diesel’s playful yet assertive response was a stern,
“How dare you ask me this question in front of all these people? I have pride and I have dignity.”
Michelle Rodriguez, another star of the franchise, also had a suggestion for the final film. Excitedly, she proclaimed,
“Who’s the guy from these amazing Jason Bourne movies? Matt Damon! I fucking want Matt Damon. Matt Damon, would you be in a Fast and Furious movie? C’mon, we got four Oscar winners, man. And you’re an Oscar winner!”

Rodriguez not only voiced her interest in having Damon join the cast, but even went so far as to ask him directly to be a part of the high-octane world ofFast and Furious.
