Jennifer Lawrence’s Reaction to Claims That She Faked Her Oscar Fall
Jared Leto was not the only celebrity to question Jennifer Lawrence’s Oscar fall. Following the incident, news anchor Anderson Cooper speculated that there was more to the Oscar-winning actresses’ fall.
Lawrence, 33, discussed the “sensitive” fall on Heather McMahan’sAbsolutely Notpodcast(viaPEOPLE):
“I was very nervous and also very superstitious. I didn’t want to acknowledge the possibility that I would win..All of the adrenaline clears out and they call my name and I’m elated and I’m in shock. And then I fell, and it erased everything from my mind. My full brain went blank. I can look back at it now fondly but for a very long time the fall thing was very sensitive.”
Lawrence was sensitive about the incident and even got offended when Cooper made a joke about her a few days later, despite the fact that she had received a standing ovation from the audience after her fall. The actress further added:

“Anderson Cooper, I saw him on CNN three days later saying, ‘Well she obviously faked the fall,’ and it was so devastating because it was this horrific humiliation to me. I don’t know if I’ll ever have a chance to give a speech like that again, so it didn’t feel good for me not to have a speech.”
She last appeared as Maddie Barker in Gene Stupnitsky’sNo Hard Feelings, which earned $87 million and received mixed reviews from critics. The Columbia Pictures films also starred Andrew Barth Feldman, Natalie Morales, Laura Benanti, and Matthew Broderick.
