Does everyone remember when acelestial semi-emergedfrom the Indian Ocean and reached out of the atmosphere inEternals? Because it seems like the folks at Marvel Studios completely forgot. So what needs to happen to get the people behind theMCUto remember that the literal Earth hangs in the balance?
These questions have been around for seven films, includingSpider-Man: No Way Home,Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,Thor: Love and Thunder,Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, andThe Marvelsand at least four TV shows without ever being addressed. So does that mean thatEternalsdoesn’t count? Or is it just that it would be too big of a deal for a throwaway line? So many questions. Let’s delve into the answers.

The Eternals and the Birth of Celestials
The Eternals introduced audiences to a group of heroes who were minions of the Celestials, a race of all-powerful beings who may have had something to do with the creation of the universe. They are enormous, often the size of planets, and have strange, stone-like appearances. The Eternals were sent to Earthat the behest of the Celestial Arishem. He tells them that they have a duty to rid the Earth of the Deviants, a race of destructive creatures bent on destroying humanity.
Rumored MCU Update Could Spell Bad News For 3 Big Sequels
A new report suggests that Marvel Studios wants to take fewer risks which likely means no sequels to Eternals, Captain Marvel, & Ant-Man.
Later, it is revealed that the Eternals are clones and have been sent to many planets by the Celestials. Deviants had also been sent, but they were sent to cleanse planets of invasive species so that the dominant species, in this case humans, could grow in number to the point that they could power an emergence. It turns out that the Celestials implant planets with their seeds, and when a population reaches critical mass, the new Celestial is born. Since everyone was returnedafter the blipfollowingEndgame, there are enough people to power this event.

When the Eternals movie came to a close, we witnessed the partial birth of the Celestial Tiamut. However, after a fierce battle, the Eternals were able to turn him to stone, with only his head and hands having emerged from the planet. And then the universe promptly forgot.
The Comic Book Solution to the Eternals Celestial Problem
One of the main things to remember is that this is not something new to the comics. This issue has occurred before, and the way to stop it hasalways involved Galactus. Galactus, often known as the Eater of Worlds, is the antibody to the Celestial threat. He goes to planets and destroys the Celestial seeds. That is why he is both feared and hated by the Celestials and the planets that do not understand his mission.
The Celestials are constantly a thorn in the side of the universe. They act as if they have complete control over everyone and can bestow judgment at will. This has brought them into conflict with many heroes over time, and it is important to remember that when a Celestial is going to emerge from a planet, it has planet-shattering consequences. Things like gravity, ocean water displacement, and just the fact that it would be on the front page of every newspaper for a very long time and an issue for every world power are always addressed in the comics, and, should a Celestial emerge, it often means that the planet is going to die.

The heroes are often placed in a position to stop an emergence entirely, knowing that the consequences would be beyond disastrous. But, for some reason, the MCU figured it was just another day on Earth. To be fair, the humans living in the MCU world have seen quite a bit, but so have those in the comics.
Possible Movie Solutions
Let’s assume that people within the MCU are working on the problem. It may be a large assumption, but maybe the folks at Marvel had too many significant events on their plate andsawEternalsas a flopand something they could largely ignore. But fans are not idiots. They know there’s half a god sticking out of the ocean. Someone has to have checked it out by now…right?
There Are Several Rumors Regarding the Celestials in the MCU
The rumor is that the Celestial will be addressed in the nextCaptain Americamovie and even be the center of world conflict when they realize that the Celestial contains a new element called…(dramatic pause)…adamantium. That’s right; the going theory is that the discovery of this new element may kickstart a version of Weapon X that will eventually lead to the creation ofmutants like Wolverine.
Eternals Actor Barry Keoghan Unveils His Vision for the Sequel Film
Barry Keoghan shares his idea for Eternals 2.
It’s also been said that the Celestial could be the precursor to Galactus’s arrival. However, if this is true, it could mean an even longer wait sinceGalactus likely won’t show upuntil after The Fantastic Four make their appearance, which is at least a year and a few movies away. So it has to be option one, right?
In all honesty, the fact remains that the MCU has forgotten about the Indian Ocean Head. This may also get tied back intoSpider-Man: No Way Homeand people’s minds being wiped, a laMen In Black. But even if that were true, people would still look around and see the Celestial poking out. And there are always the consequences of other alien races seeing that the Earth has the equivalent of a calcified zit sticking out of its forehead. Regardless, Marvel Studios needs to address the giant rock head in the room and do it fast. Or they could wait for superhero fatigue to completely take hold and never address it again—their choice.Eternals, along with the rest of the MCU, is streaming on Disney+.
