Samsung recently teased itsnext-generation foldablephone, promising it would be the “thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet.” The foldable phone in question is expected to be theGalaxy Z Fold 7, and now a new leak is shedding light on just how thin it might be.
This leak comes fromAndroid Headlines, which recently posted new renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Looking at the images, one thing is distinctly clear: the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is significantly slimmer than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which measures 5.6mm thick when unfolded.

How slim will the Galaxy Z Fold 7 be? That isn’t officially known yet, but previous leaks suggest it could measure anywhere from 3.9mm to 4.5mm thick when unfolded. For perspective, theOppo Find N5is 4.2mm thick when unfolded, so if the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is slimmer than that, it would be quite remarkable.
These renders showcase the Z Fold 7 in two different colorways, reportedly called jet black and blue shadow. The blue shadow colorway reminds me of the Galaxy S25’s navy color, but it’s hard to tell if it’s exactly the same based on the renders. You can check out the renders from Android Headlines below.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has great potential
The foldable phone could be announced in July
When Samsung announced theGalaxy S25 series, I found it hard to feel very excited about the phones because they were so similar to the S24 series. However, I don’t feel the same way about the Galaxy Z Fold 7 so far.
Based on the leaks that have surfaced over the past few months, it seems Samsung is genuinely refining the Z Fold 7 to make it one of the best foldable phones on the market, offering a significant improvement over the Fold 6. Its recentmarketing teaseechoes that sentiment, with Samsung promising its next foldable will have “industry-leading hardware, cutting-edge performance and seamless AI integration optimized for the foldable format.”

Powering the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumored to be Qualcomm’s formidable Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, the same chipset found in the S25 series.
Previous leaks suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s outer display (when folded) will measure around 6.5-inches, and the inner display (when unfolded) will measure 8.2-inches. If the inner display is indeed 8.2-inches, it would be the largest on a foldable device to date, surpassing both the Oppo Find N5 (8.12-inches) and the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold (8-inches).

Powering the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumored to be Qualcomm’s formidable Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, the same chipset found in the S25 series. Additionally, Samsung has already announced that its next foldable devices will launch withOne UI 8(Android 16) pre-installed.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to be announced at a Galaxy Unpacked event this summer, along with the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Evan Blass, a reliable leaker, recently posted on Xthat the event could take place on July 9 in New York City. If that’s the case, then the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is only a few weeks away from finally being revealed.
