The heat in Arrakis can kill you, the sandworms can swallow you whole and walking anywhere takes forever. That’s why having a vehicle inDune: Awakeningis a must. The game gives you different types of machines to ride and each one does something special. Some help you move fast, while others help you carry supplies or fly across the desert sky.

Every machine in the game has its purpose, and knowing which one to build or upgrade next can save you time, Solari and maybe even your life. Whether you’re just starting out or already deep in the endgame grind, this list will help you choose the perfect ride for whatever Arrakis throws at you.

4Sandcrawler
Used for Massive Spice Collection
The Sandcrawler is the biggest and heaviest ground vehicle you can build. This machine is all about one thing: hauling massive amounts of resources. It’s not fast, it doesn’t fight and you won’t be racing across the desert with it, but when it comes to collecting spice, nothing else comes close.
You won’t get a Sandcrawler early in the game. First, you need to reach the stage where you can craft plastanium, a high-level material made by combining titanium, stravidium and lots of clean water. Clean water isn’t easy to come by, so most players extract blood from enemies, purify it and use that as theirwater source. It sounds strange, but it’s one of the smartest ways to get what you need without running dry. All these ingredients are found deep in the desert, far from your starting area, and you’ll need a strong Ornithopter to even reach those places safely.

Great for Collecting Resources Quickly While Keeping You Mobile and Safe
The Buggy is one of the first real vehicles you can use to travel across the desert, and it’s extremely useful for both survival and gathering. While it doesn’t fly like the Ornithopter or carry as much as a Sandcrawler, the Buggy strikes a solid balance between speed, strength and storage. You can actually grab a Buggy early in the game. Some enemy camps have Buggies parked outside. If you take over one of these camps, you can steal the vehicle and drive it away. It might not be in great shape, and enemies won’t make it easy, but it’s a quick way to get mobile without waiting to build your own.

What really makes the Buggy stand out is the Cutteray attachment. It’s basically a big, mounted tool that lets you harvest resources faster than if you were doing it by hand. That means you may drive right up to anore deposit, mine it quickly and keep moving. It saves time, and because the Buggy can hold a lot of loot, you don’t have to return to base as often.
Perfect for Quick Desert Travel
The Sandbike is the first ride you’ll likely get your hands on in Dune: Awakening. It’s a small, fast vehicle built for one person, and you unlock it during an early quest called “Across the Gap.” To make one, you’ll need to collect and craft parts like the engine, chassis, treads, a power unit and more. Fuel cells are also required and you’re able to create those using a Small Chemical Refinery. Once everything’s ready, you can build the bike at a fabrication station.
There’s also another fun way to get the Sandbike. If a sandworm eats you, there’s a chance you’ll enter a strange dream. In that dream, a character known as The Guide gives you all the parts you need for free. You still have to build the bike after waking up, but this shortcut saves you time and crafting materials if you’re lucky enough to trigger it early. When it comes to movement, the Sandbike really shines. It handles tight corners and rough terrain much better than larger vehicles. If you’re trying to cross wide deserts, outrun a sandworm or weave through canyon paths, the Sandbike can do it without slowing you down. you’re able to also upgrade it with better parts as you progress. Adding things like a Mk2 engine or stronger treads will boost your speed and make the ride smoother.

1Ornithopter
Makes Flying Fast, Safe, and Useful for Solo or Team Play
The Ornithopter is one of the most important vehicles you’re able to get once you’ve progressed far enough into the game. It’s a flying machine inspired by dragonflies, with flapping wings that let you take off, hover and glide over long distances. This makes it thefastest way to travelacross the desert world of Arrakis, especially when you want to avoid dangers like sandworms or steep cliffs. On foot, or even with ground vehicles, these threats can slow you down or get you killed. But with an Ornithopter, you can fly right over them and reach places that would normally be out of your way.
To unlock an Ornithopter, you need to reach a certain tech level called Aluminum Tier, and you’ll also need special parts to build it, like engines, hulls, cockpits and wings. These parts can be found by looting enemy outposts, or if you have a good reputation with a faction like Atreides or Harkonnen, you can buy the parts directly using Solari (money). There are three types of Ornithopters you can build, each with a different purpose. The Scout version is lightweight and fast, making it great for solo players who want to explore or run quick missions. The Assault version is more durable and can carry weapons, which is useful if you expect to get into aerial combat. The Carrier version moves slower, but it can transport other vehicles or large amounts of supplies, which is useful for team operations or setting up remote bases.
