Whether you’re a simple farmer or a soldier in a militia, everything is out to get you, and with the Dreamscourge infecting the minds of anyone it gets in contact with, you’ll find side quests that deal with some heavy themes.
For this quest, we are tasked with helping a Thirdbornian be able to mourn her brother in peace.
Avowed: Home Sweet Home Quest Guide
Sometimes moving out of your parent’s house is the right thing to do, and what better time than when they turn into mindless Dreamthrall.
Accepting the “Quest”
Why we have Quest in quotes is because this isn’t an actual official quest. This is one of the few instances in Avowed where you will pick up a task from a character in the world, but it’s not put in your journal. It’s not an official quest, and, to a certain degree, isn’t crucial considering it doesn’t give you any rewards, but it’s a quant story that makes you feel for some of these people.
For this quest, you will need to be in Shatterscarp and progress a little bit into the story. This is located immediatelywest of Thirdborn and northwest of the Thirdborn Oasis. From here, you will find theAncient Lakebedthat also houses the short but intimidating side quest,That Which Remains, where you need to make a decision on the fate of some researchers.
Under the cliff on the easternmost of the Ancient Lakebed you will find a “Mourning Thirdbornian” woman beside herself over the loss of her brother. Talking to her, she will give you her backstory and how her brother passed away and all she wants to do is mourn. Unfortunately, there are creatures around her brother’s grave which makes it impossible to do so.
Finding the Gravesite
Because this isn’t an official quest, you won’t actually be given a waymarker to find where the gravesite is, but one of your party members will give you a clue. For us, Kai stated that he saw a cairn across the lakebed, but the lakebed is pretty sizable. Fortunately, it’s not that far away from the questgiver.
From where you find the Mourning Thirdbornian, head south up the small hill until you reach a patch of brown seaweed-looking grass. Look to the right, and you will see twoDreamthrall Swarmersurrounding a cairn. Take care of the two Dreamthrall and put the flowers the sister gave to you on the cairn.
The Mourning Thirdbornian will appear and will pray for her brother before giving thanks for your hard work. Despite it still being dangerous in the Shatterscarp wilds, she states that she will stay by the grave for a little longer, hoping to plant flowers for her brother.
If you have at least3 Intelligence points, you will be able to convince her it’s not safe, but she will still stay for a little while before leaving.
