Mortal Kombat 1 players skeptical crossplay update won’t fix key issues
Crossplay will hit Mortal Kombat 1 soon, but players are skeptical because of the feature’s disappointing implementation in MK11.
In showcasingMK1’s Peacemaker DLC, WB Games and NetherRealm confirmed when crossplay will finally arrive.

According to theMortal Kombat Twitter account, the long-awaited feature will go live in “next week’s patch,” which suggests a shared release date with Peacemaker’s early access launch – February 28.
MK1 players are looking forward to crossplay’s introduction, but many remain skeptical – especially since the feature hasn’t been implemented to their liking in previous installments.

Mortal Kombat 1’s crossplay news raises lots of questions
The Mortal Kombat page’s aforementioned post noted that only the following platforms will support crossplay: PC (Steam and EGS), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Crossplay is not on the docket for the Nintendo Switch.
Such an omission is understandable given theSwitch version’s myriad performance issues. However, that hardly softens the blow for some fans.

But many longtime Mortal Kombat 1 players seem more concerned with the extent to which functionality will work. After all, MK11’s restrictive cross-platform play only let PlayStation users battle Xbox owners, while PC and Switch were left out.
Additionally, the feature worked exclusively for Kasual modes, such as Versus, King of the Hill, and Krossplay Rooms. Ranked and Kombat League modes were hung out to dry in this regard.

One skeptical fan wrote in aRedditpost about theMortal Kombat 1crossplay news, “This better be a real crossplay and not that fake a** sh** from MK11. I want to be able to CHOOSE to play with my friends across platforms, not only get it in kasuals.”

As of writing, NetherRealm has yet to share specifics. But, as noted in the above social media announcement, more information will surface in the coming days.
