Marvel Rivalshas a variety of great heroes, from ones that are dominating the meta to themost annoying ones, but what if I told you one thatfits both statements?Well, the latter mostly, and his name is Jeff, the Land Shark.
Jokes aside, to me, he’s one of the most unique heroes I’ve seen, and that’s saying something after years of playingOverwatch 2andTeam Fortress 2.

He may seem like a cute baby shark who doesn’t know any better, but it’s quite the opposite here.

Resurrect your allies with one of the best Heroes in Marvel Rivals.
Jeff is a Strategist hero who utilizes the backlines to heal allies and offensively support with his alt-fire. He is a character who can escape from engagements quickly with his Hide and Seek ability and get some quick healing wherever required.

However, the spotlight of this character that catches everyone’s attention nowadays is his ultimate, which I’ll briefly discuss alongside his overall kit, counters, and more in this hero guide for Jeff the Land Shark in Marvel Rivals.
Jeff The Land Shark Abilities Overview
Jeff is a superb healer who can play median distances to heal teammatesvia his Joyful Splash water gun. Simultaneously, you can switch it up using his alt-fire to deal splash damage to targets.
Regarding the Ultimate,it’s pretty much the most annoying thingplayers deal with right now, one that I definitely think will get patched in a balancing update due to how you can scoop up players in a large radius and plummet them to their death off the map.

Besides that, you also have Jeff’s bubbles, which are excellent for healing tanks back to full HP or spreading out in a given zone. With the surface details out of the way, below is the entire ability kit for Jeff the Land Shark.
Description
Joyful Splash
Primary Attack. Unleash a healing splash. Heals 140-150 per second with a fire rate of 20 RPM
Aqua Burst
Secondary Attack. Launch a high-speed water sphere that bursts upon impact, dealing damage to enemies within range.
Ultimate ability. Deep dive into the scene and resurface to swallow both enemies and allies within range, activating Hide and Seek for a brief duration before ejecting the swallowed heroes forward. Duration: 6 Seconds

Hide and Seek
Dive into the scene with only his dorsal fin exposed, granting himself a Movement Boost. Jeff can heal while submerged and gains the wall-crawl ability

Healing Bubble
Spit a bubble that heals the ally who collects it, granting them Healing Boost and Movement Boost while also launching up nearby enemies. Provides 85 healing with a 6-round charge.
Oblivious Cuteness
Passive ability. Reduce damage taken from critical hits.
Jeff The Land Shark Offensive Strategies
Let me go on the record and say that Jeff isNOT an offensive hero or even a Strategist who can flexin that role unless push comes to serve. He’s got that fantastic healing for a reason: to support his team from the mid-to-backlines.
That isn’t to say you shouldn’t try to sneak in some attack wherever possible. Below are some strategies that you can implement as Jeff the Land Shark if you want to play offensively in the match:
If you are going the obnoxious dive-off-the-map route with Jeff’s ultimate to take out the enemy team, check and spit out any allies unless you want to be a toxic teammate.
Jeff The Land Shark Defensive Strategies
It’s here that Jeff shines the most and which I prefer you focus on going for if you want to help your teammates win engagements easily and thus the round/match.
As stated previously,Jeff’s healing is his strongest suit, and he is honestly a fantastic beginner hero for some people. While I’ve happily discussed some of the opportunistic strategies in the offensive section, for defense, you can do a lot more here.
And considering his ridiculous ultimate, which we’re about to go over, Jeff’s the most fun hero to play andone of my favorite Strategist characters. Below are the defensive options and pointers you can adapt to playing him in Marvel Rivals:

Jeff The Land Shark Counters & How To Deal With Them
For the counters, I know you want something that can negate Jeff’s ultimate, which happens to scoop you out of almost anything, and I’m here to tell you that’s somewhat possible.
Besides the hilarious methods thatsome players use by countering it with another Jeff’s Ultimateto save their allies, there are a few ways to get by against it, and even save your teammates if you manage to survive yourself.
To avoid Jeff’s Ultimate, a neat trick that I discovered is to usePunisher’s Turret ability. An ability whose animation lets you avoid the scoop-up from “It’s Jeff” along withHela’s Astral Flock, which lets you escape the situation if he activates it.
Ultimate aside,Jeff’s a very squishy character, and with the large head hitbox I mentioned previouslyin the defensive strategies, characters that deal splash or chunks of critical damage will mop the floor with you in seconds if you’re not careful.
Characters likeIron ManandStar-Lordcan take you from their aerial advantage unless you miraculously land your alt-fire on them. Andcharacters like Hawkeye(with a good player using him) can take you out at long distances with ease.
Jeff The Land Shark’s Team-Up Abilities
Heroes Required
New Friends
Jeff the Land Shark andRocket Raccooncan ride on Groot’s shoulders, receiving Damage Reduction.
Frozen Spitball
Luna Snow infuses ice energy intoNamorand Jeff the Land Shark, who then can tap into the ice energy to power up abilities at will.
Jeff’s team-up with Luna Snow is a must to use due tothose Frozen Iceball attacks can drastically helpduring chaotic engagements to help slow and attack clumped-up enemies, improving Jeff’s viability in the offense department.
With the Groot Team-Up ability, I’ll touch on that a bit more with the team comps section below but that damage reduction is pretty sweetto counter Jeff’s large crit headbox, just be sure to provide healing to your allies when on Groot’s shoulders unless you want to be called out for your healing difference in text chat.
Best Team Comps With Jeff The Land Shark
In hindsight, Jeff synergizes well with almost any character in the game. There are not any specifics but if I had to choose, it has to be characters likeMagikor evenPsylocke, partly due to their aggressive melee playstyles improving Jeff’s viability in the offense department when pushing.
Not to mention, they can alsobenefit from your healing bubblessince they can give a momentary movement boost as soon as you pick them up. But aside from that, Jeff is a universal healerwho can work with anyone you wish, at least in the current meta.
Groot may also work here since you may traverse on his shoulders with a35% damage reductionbut I wouldn’t recommend that unless that Groot player is strategic and not rushing in, if not, go right ahead and be an iconic duo that’ll make Rocket Raccoon slightly jealous.
