Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name’s new trailer provides more details on what players can expect from the story, combat, and the fun minigames that take the game to another level. Like A Dragon Gaiden Gameplay Trailer Features the Return of Beloved Yakuza’s Kiryu

Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name’s events take place between Yakuza 6 and Yakuza: Like A Dragon with Kazuma Kiryu as the same famous protagonist. Spoiler alert for those who haven’t played Yakuza 6. But Kiryu decides to fake his death at the end to protect his adopted children. It goes without saying that he does a bad job at it despite assuming a brand new identity who goes by the name of Joryu, a secret spy. He is assigned work though - by simply watching over in a smuggling operation.

What happens next is a series of cat-and-mouse events that spiral out of control as he comes across this yakuza family who recognizes him. His supposedly well-kept past is out in the open and his children are taken in as hostages. Can Joryu do everything to protect those he loves?

Action-Based Combat

Like A Dragon Gaiden’s combat is different compared to say, Yakuza 7’s turn-based action combat. Here, there are two fighting styles to switch between based on who you are fighting, you have the Agent Style and the Yakuza Style. Being a secret spy has its perks and one of them is using high-tech gadgets to your advantage.

With the Agent Style, you will be able to use charged wires to bundle enemies together, deploy homing drones to attack and distract them, and even use your cigarette to possibly detonate some explosives. If you enjoy quick action, then this fighting style is best suited for you.

Meanwhile, you also have the Yakuza Style, which you may already be familiar with as the famous Street Brawler. If you want to just jump in without any sort of fluff in order to bash targets with your bare hands and smooth pumped-up kicks, then the Yakuza Style is something you are going to massively enjoy! Similar to Like A Dragon: Ishin, you will make use of Heat Actions to come up with finisher moves while sitting back, and enjoying the brawl.

Unforgettable and Immersive Activities

Like A Dragon Gaiden still has that touch of absurdity and comedy with its array of unforgettable and immersive activities. First is the Coliseum Battle Arena Tournament where Joryu will be able to dish out moves to practice his fighting styles in large, all-out brawls against multiple opponents with the team of his choice.

Second, are the huge number of side activities that you can partake in, exactly what makes the series so famous. You can engage in massive brawling events with your own customized team. Alternatively, you can visit the local club, letting you experience Japan’s nightlife as faithfully as possible. You can also invest in a variety of outfits to make Joryu look as appealing and stylish as never before.

Of course, Gaiden isn’t part of the Like A Dragon series without its karaoke fun together with a bunch of other activities such as playing pool, golf, billiards, and classic video games like motorbike racing and Sonic the Fighters!

Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth And The Future

The last part of Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name’s trailer includes the sequel to Yakuza: Like A Dragon, which is Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth. This is going to be a playable trial version included in Gaiden right after finishing the game, in order to give players a taste of what’s to come next. Do note that scenes from this “Special Trial Version” will not be available in Infinite Wealth so it is going to be a treat for those who play Gaiden until the very end.

In Infinite Wealth, Ichiban Kasuga is initially introduced in handcuffs, only to be released by Kazuma Kiryu himself in what appears to be a dual playthrough, quite similar to the one in Yakuza 0.
