But it’s one problem we’re not too sure many of you will be able to identify with!
The Late Bloomeris based on Ken Baker’s book of the same name, which is subtitled ‘A Memoir of My Body’. It hits book stores and online outlets on September 27th. Just a few days later, Momentum Pictures will release the film in theaters on October 7th. Kevin Pollak is working from a script by Joe Nussbaum, Mark Torgove, Paul A. Kaplan, Kyle Cooper, and Austyn Jeffs, from a story by Joe Nussbaum and Gary Rosen.
InThe Late Bloomer, Dr. Pete Newmans (Johnny Simmons) is a successful sex therapist whose practice is devoted to helping people re-channel their sexual impulses. When his doctors discover apituitary tumorthat has delayed his onset of puberty for 15 years, Pete undergoes what would normally be years of puberty in a matter of weeks. Mood swings, voice changes, acne and, of course, near uncontrollable erections greet Pete as he tries to navigate life as both a horny 15 year-old kid and a 30 year-old desperate to be a complete man and get the girl of his dreams.
Johnny Simmons is joined by a stellar ensemble cast that also includesMaria Bello, Brittany Snow, Jane Lynch, J.K. It will also be opening againstFriend RequestandMiddle School: The Worst Years of My Life, along with a whole bunch of limited releases includedThe Greasy Strangler,The Blinky Bill Movie, andBetter Off Single.
Best known as an actor, Kevin Pollak cut his directing teeth with the TV showVamped Out, which he co-created. His first directorial feature was the documentaryMisery Loves Comedy, which tries to answer the question ‘Do you have to be miserable to be funny?’ and features over fifty of the most popular comedians from all around the world.The Late Bloomermarks Pollak’s first turn as a narrative filmmaker. And as you may tell by the first poster, it is sure to be a crowd pleasing, if somewhat ‘uncomfortable’ treat. The first trailer should be arriving shortly.
