Zack Snyderis currently hard at work on the live-actionJustice Leaguemovie for Warner Bros., which is set to be released next year. There are a lot of reasons to be excited about the movie, but one of the biggest is easily getting to see more ofBen Affleckas Batman. But that begs the question, when are we going to see the soloBatman movie? It looks like Warner Bros. is actually going to be subbing inBen Affleck’sThe BatmanforJustice League 2.

The news comes courtesy ofThe Hollywood Reporterand they claim that Warner Bros. is bumping backJustice League 2, which was slated to come out on July 24, 2025, forThe Batman. The report didn’t clarify if the first soloBatmanmovie in the DC Extended Universe would be coming out on that same release date, but it seems like a safe bet. With reports circulating thatThe Batmanwill be shooting soon, it would make a lot of sense for Warner Bros. to get a release date set for the movie as soon as possible, but many fans would probably prefer it if that date were sometime in 2018.

THR is also noting thatZack Snyderis still intent on directingJustice League 2, whenever Warner Bros. decides to move ahead with it. However, since the movie has been pushed back, it has left an opening in his schedule and he will instead be directingThe Last Photograph, an Afghanistan war movie which he has been developing for quite some time. His longtime colleagueKurt Johnstadwrote the script for the movie and the plan, at the moment, is to shoot the movie late next year and hopefully have Warner Bros. behind it as well. That would meanZack Snyderwould still be in good graces with the studio and could probably return forJustice League 2without any issues. Assuming everything goes well with the firstJustice League.

As forThe Batman, there has been seemingly equal parts excitement and confusion about the movie in recent months. While doing press for his latest movieThe Accountant,Ben Affleckwas (understandably) pestered quite a bit about his upcomingBatmanmovie for the DCEU. At one point, he seemingly revealed that the title of the movie would beThe Batman, but shortly after that, he took a step back and made it seem as thoughThe Batmanwasn’t totally, one-hundred percent happening at the moment. All the whileJoe Manganiello, who has been cast as the villainDeathstroke, has been giving interviews making it seem like the movie is full-steam ahead, claiming that shooting could start very soon. Another report made it seem as though the script for the movie is a complete mess, so there is a lot to sort out, but the movie is definitely happening and that timeline would definitely make sense.

Warner Bros. has been shifting things around here and there and is trying to go with the flow for their DC Comics movies. Their last two outings,Batman V. Superman: Dawn of JusticeandSuicide Squad, both made a lot of money but were trashed by critics, so the studio is trying to course correct where needed. Despite the lackluster reception by many of the DCEU offerings thus far, there is a lot of hype surroundingThe Batman, so it would definitely make sense to get that movie out beforeJustice League Part 2. Not only that, but it would giveZack Snydera bit of a break between these massive superhero movies, which he could probably use. We will be sure to keep you updated as more details become available.
