John Travoltahas recently enjoyed a run at the top of the free streaming charts with two of his mostly forgotten movies.Life on the Linehas been at the top of the Tubi chartin the last week, but prior to that, his 2024 crime action thrillerCash Outstole the number one position. Now fans of thePulp Fictionstar’s Miles “The Count” Cunningham have been given their first look at his return in the sequel,Cash Out 2: High Rollers.

This follow-up is looking to raise the stakes with some more elaborate action set pieces and a story of daring robberies and underhanded cons, and the new trailer has given a strong indication that the new movie will be delivering more of the same asCash Out. While Travolta reprises his role as Cunningham, the rest of the cast sees a mix of new and old faces to the franchise. John Travolta is Looking for a Better Critical Reception This Time

Directed by returning filmmaker Bryan Stanton, who helmed the originalCash Out,High Rollersis set up to be a globe-trotting action adventure, with filming having taken place in stunning locations including Monaco, Dubai, and Barcelona. The film picks up after the events ofCash Out, which ended with Cunningham vanishing off the grid following his Las Vegas casino heist. In the sequel, he finds himself being drawn back into the world by an offer that – in the bestGodfathertradition – is just too good to refuse. With plenty of twists and turns on the cards, the film could manage to outdo its predecessor in one way in particular.

Reviews forCash Outwere not kind on either side of the Rotten Tomatoes coin. Critics slammed the movie as being“underwhelming”and“a mercenary case of cashing in”among other less than complimentary comments. This resulted in a 20% Tomatometer score, which was only just below the 29% approval rate given by audiences.

John Travolta Recalls Why He Was Cast in Pulp Fiction, and Turning down Another Tarantino Movie

A bizarre evening with Quentin Tarantino led to John Travolta’s casting in Pulp Fiction, when he also turned down a different movie.

Despite complaints of the film being a“B-movie heist thriller”at best, the film’s addition to Tubi last month saw the film spending more than a week in the platform’s Top 10, and several days in the number 1 spot. As with many “tired” action movies, there is always an audience out there for things that go boom in the dark…and twisting stories that may not be quite up to the standard of some genre classics, but still provide a little escapism for free.

High Rollermay surprise everyone and become a darling of reviewers everywhere, but while we would not be willing to put any money on that happening, a safe bet will be the success of the movie on streaming, regardless of what the reviews say.
