If there’s one thing that Ubisoft does well with their multitude of franchises, it’s creating dense environments filled with exploration. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is no different, as the vast world the studio has created is ripe for adventure. Whether it’s the various unique enemies you’ll come across on your adventures or investigating reported Yokai in the area, there feels like an overwhelming amount of content to dig your teeth into.
One such activity is participating in the numerous temples and shrines. Japan is a country of tradition and religion, at least back in the 1500s when Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes place. If you’ve ever been to the country, you’ll know that the number of temples and shrines feels infinite, and in Shadows, it’s well represented with some of the most iconic structures in the Kansai region.

Purpose of Temples & Shrines
With each of the temples and shrines, there will either be lost pages that need collecting or shrines that need to be prayed to. Doing so will unlock a good amount of EXP along with a Knowledge point that can be used to upgrade Nao and Yasuke. Some of these locations have surprisingly well-hidden collectibles, but with this guide you’ll have no problem finding them.
The Itatehyozu Shrine is found in the Harima region of Japan. It is located to the west of the province, southeast of Himeji Castle.

Shrine Locations
Itatehyozu Shrine is one of the key shrines in all of Harima, being in the core section of the rice fields. It is one of the bigger shrines to find, featuring three places to pray, all of which are separated fairly well. The first shrine that can be found is when entering from the west or south. As soon as you enter, the southwest most open building will be the shrine you need to pray to. you may venture inside, but it’s at the steps that you need to pray.
From where you just interacted with the first shrine, head north until you reach the back wall of the Itatehyozu Shrine. There will be a number of small shrines lined up against the back wall, but you’ll need to go a little east until you get past the building. From here, the shrine at the back will be what you will need to interact with.

The third and final shrine is a little bit hidden, but all you really need to do is follow the path. While the first two shrines were in fairly close proximity to one another, the other one is on the other side of the Itatehyozu Shrine. From the second shrine, head directly east until you get into what looks like a small forest. If you hit the east wall or northeastern structure, you’ve gone too far. Head back into the forest and head to the direct west of the building to find a rather tucked-away shrine.
