YouTube TVis popular among many cord-cutters for good reason: it offers a variety of live TV channels that people crave from cable TV, and it features cloud-based DVR storage, allowing you to catch up on your favorite shows even if you missed them. However, if there is one thing YouTube TV is infamous for, its price hikes.

Themost recent price hikeoccurred in December when YouTube TV announced it was raising its price to $83 a month, a $10 increase from its original price of $73 a month. However, YouTube TV is offeringa hidden wayto temporarily avoid this price hike.

Some YouTube TV members are being offered $10 off their monthly bill for the next six months, totaling $60 in savings. However, YouTube hasn’t made this promotion easy to find, and it isn’t advertising it either. To find the discount yourself, open up YouTube TV and head toSettings > Membership > Manage > Get $10 off your current plan.

The Manage membership page should detail your current billing cycle, and just above that, you should see the option to receive $10 off your current plan as a gift if you’re eligible. When you click to redeem the offer, it will prompt you to agree to the terms and display your new monthly fee, which should revert to $73 a month. If you’re having trouble locating the deal, userson Reddithave reported that it is only visible on YouTube TV’s website, not on the mobile app. If you already have a promotional offer active, you likely won’t see this offer available.

YouTube TV keeps gaining value, but it’s just adding to my worries

YouTube TV is expanding rapidly, and that might not be a good thing.

Temporary relief from YouTube’s latest price hike

YouTube TV has more than doubled in price since its inception

If YouTube TV’s price increase to $83 a month frustrates you, at least this new promotion offers temporary relief, lowering the rate back down to $73 a month for the next six months. However, once the six months end, you’ll revert back to paying $83 a month again automatically. Remember when TV streaming was affordable? I certainly do.

When YouTube TV first launched, it offered substantial value as a budget-friendly alternative to cable. Looking back to 2017, when YouTube TV debuted, the service cost only $35 a month. A year later, in 2018, it experienced its first price increase to $40 a month. In 2019, it rose to $50 a month, marking its biggest jump yet. Then in 2020, it skyrocketed to $65 a month. Three years later, in 2023, the price went up to $73 per month. Finally, most recently in 2025, YouTube TV raised its price to $83 a month.

So, in just eight years, YouTube TV’s price increased from $35 a month to $83 a month, more than doubling the original rate. Why has the cost gone up so much? It could be because thecost of contenthas risen sharply in recent years and there is growing competition in theTV streaming space. Back in December, YouTube stated “due to the rising cost of content, we’ve updated our membership pricing to reflect the complete value of YouTube TV.”

At least this new promotion YouTube is offering brings the cost down again temporarily. But once it goes back up to $83 a month, it will sting.
