Hidetaka Miyazaki Reveals Bloodborne As His Favourite FromSoftware Title

Miyazaki was interviewed in an article forGamespot Brazilwhich was translated into English by Reddit userGbraga. The interview went over whyBloodbornehas become his most favourite FromSoftware title to date. Fans are always eager to find ifBloodborne 2will be on the horizon, and From have even gone far enough to include aneaster eggin their titleDéracinéthat relates to the game. Even now the avid fanbase have unearthed manysecretsfound in-game, whether it beloreor even through data mining cut contentbosses, or an original use of an object such as theYharnam Stone. Passion for Bloodborne is very much alive and well, not just through its fans but also its director Hidetaka Miyazaki.

However, Miyazaki has still not given a definite confirmation on a sequel. When asked about if there were any improvements he would have wanted to make with Bloodborne, Miyazaki mentions in the interview “theChalice Dungeonsand theBlood Gems” as he wanted them to be “…more detailed, worked more thoroughly. I see the possibility of adding more to it”. The interviewer asks if this could be in the sequel, but Miyazaki replies:

Bloodborne 2… Unfortunately, it’s not up to me.

But Bloodborne still remains a project close to his heart:

But if I were to say which one stayed in my heart the most, it’s Bloodborne. It’s the one that marked me the most. I believe I did it my way, the way I wanted.

That being said, his favourite boss still comes fromDemon’s Souls, theOld Monk, due to it’s “unique system” at the time, facing players versus other players. Players have a chance to invade another player, giving the option to fight them instead of the AI boss. This was something quite unusual in games during that time and has continued to stay with Miyazaki.

FromSoftware

There was no mention in this interview of the current project Miyazaki has been working on, the enigmaticElden Ringthat has stirred a lot of anticipation, specially as it’s in collaboration withSong of Fire and Iceauthor George R.R. Martin.
