Zack Snyder has a cult following, there is no denying that. Although he may have some masterpieces when it comes to his directing, his fan following can be rather overwhelming. That is to say, even his haters seem to have a dedication to overthrowing his reign as a good director. His talent is one that has been heavily acknowledged.
There can often be times when a director is highly respected but one or more project of theirs performs poorly. One such director is none other than Chloé Zhao. Although she had been announced as the director forEternals,the hype wasn’t as big for the movie as expected. That was until Zhao won an Oscar. Things started to turn immediately afterward.

Chloé Zhao’s Love For Zack Snyder
Chloé Zhaohas been acquainted with various different directors throughout her life. One such director whom she has come to love isZack Snyder. Best known for his work with the DC Universe, Snyder has a reputation for being a rather artistic director. This also happens to come from his background as an artist. Zhao too saw his unique ability to make movies.
“Of all modern interpretations of Superman, this is Zack Snyder’s with ‘Man Of Steel’ which inspired me the most because he approached this myth in an authentic and very real way. I remember thinking it was Superman by Terrence Malick when I saw the trailer. This film left a strong impression on me.”
The first time she saw the trailer for Henry Cavill’sMan of Steelshe did not even know it was Snyder who was making the film. She thought it was Terrence Malick, a highly respected director. To be compared to Malick is an achievement on its own. The director even called him someone who was very open to ideas and would not leave any page unturned when it came to making his film.

Chloé Zhao Took Inspiration From Zack Snyder
Chloé Zhao confirmed that she had taken major inspiration from Zack Snyder’s work inMan of Steel.Not only were the fans amazed by his work but so was the Oscar-winning director. She even tried making Ikaris as close to Superman as possible. Not only that, he was even compared with the superhero inEternals.
“This film left a strong impression on me. But Ikaris is, of course, our own take on Superman.”
Zhao tried to add as many elements to his work as possible. She was so in awe of his work that she could not help but compliment it. Even thoughEternalshad a rather poor box office run, the directing of the film was praised regardless.
