Throne and Liberty, the 2002 free-to-play MMORPG from NCSoft, is preparing to release its very first 12-player raid on June 26th.
The game has been building up for the past month with several activities, helping to prepare players before encountering Calanthia herself.

The Altar of Calanthia raid will feature two parties of six players as they encounter three stages of bosses. NCSoft expects players to be able to deal with the higher difficulty levels waiting for them inside the Altar of Calanthia. “We have high expectations for [players],” the team said. “The hard difficulty mode of the Calanthia Raid is extremely challenging. Even top players will barely be able to clear it.”
That’s a lot of expectations for the raid’s difficulty, and it will be interesting to see if it can live up to the hype. Before the raid launches, though, the team atGame Ranthad a chance to talk to the Throne and Liberty Team.

Expect The Altar of Calanthia To Offer Engaging Content For Players of All Abilities
Despite promising a challenging raid, the development team wants to ensure that less seasoned players are not scared off.
“Our approach to balancing the 12-player raid experience focuses on creating meaningful engagement for both casual and hardcore audiences,” said Daniel Lafuente, Globalization Design Manager forThrone and Libertyat Amazon Games. “We start with the natural complexity that emerges from coordinating twelve players, then layer in mechanical depth thoughtfully. For more casual groups, the base experience emphasizes what makes raids special: the joy of cooperation and distinct roles for different character builds.”

Chrono Odyssey Announces Closed Beta on PC for This Summer
Chrono Odyssey launches closed PC beta this summer, offering early access to its stunning world and time-manipulation gameplay.
As you can expect, the team listened to feedback to ensure the Calanthia raid meets their expectations and provides an enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels.

“We focused heavily on whether each boss aligned with our intended design philosophy,” added Jaehyeon Kim, Lead World Content Designer at FirstSpark Games/NCSOFT. He also explains how each boss was designed with a proper progression in mind: the first boss introduces the basics of two-party combat, and subsequent bosses build on that to test players on what they’ve learned thus far.
