The Opening Night Live conference at Gamescom 2025, hosted byGeoff Keighley, is shaping up to be one of the strongest shows since the event began in 2019. Speaking at a remote press roundtable, the creator ofThe Game AwardsandSummer Game Festset expectations high.
“I think this is probably one of our best Opening Night Live events yet, in terms of games, announcements, and overall content,” said Keighley. “We’re confident, and we hope everyone tunes in.”
Date, Time and Duration
The main show kicks off at8:00 PM CESTand will last about two hours, with Keighley and Eefje Depoorter returning as hosts. Before that, at7:30 PM CEST, there will be apre-showhosted by Kyle Bosman, featuring new game reveals and extra content.

Keighley emphasized that ONL serves as“the kickoff to Gamescom week,”showcasing both upcoming fall releases and exclusive new details.
A Bigger Stage and Musical Performances
This year, Opening Night Live will be held atKoelnmesse’s Hall 1, accommodating around 5,000 in-person attendees and boosting production value.
For the first time, ONL will featuremajor live musical performances. Highlighting one of the year’s most acclaimed games,Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Keighley announced a special performance celebrating its French development team and unforgettable soundtrack.
“We’ve had smaller music moments in the past, like Starfield, but this will be on the scale of The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest,” Keighley explained. “It adds a new element that brings the show to life and offers a break from all the trailers.”
