Bandai Namcohas shared updated sales figures forElden Ringsince its February 2022 launch, coinciding with the announcement ofElden Ring: Nightreignat The Game Awards.
Elden Ring 3.6 Million Copies Solds
The reveal ofElden Ring: Nightreignwas undoubtedly unexpected. At The Game Awards 2024, Hidetaka Miyazaki delivered on his promise to expand the franchise without resorting to a direct sequel to the open-world soulslike.
While we might one day see anElden Ringmovie or series (potentially involving George R.R. Martin), for now, fans can look forward toElden Ring: Nightreign.
This PvE action game, directed by Junya Ishizaki, is set to release in 2025 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, following the enormous success ofElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, the game’s expansion.
As part of the announcement, Bandai Namco highlighted the importance of the Elden Ring IP within the gaming industry, revealing updated sales figures as of December 2024.
Surpasses 28 Million Sales
Prior to the release of Shadow of the Erdtree in June, Elden Ring had already sold over 25 million copies across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Since then, the game has sold an additional3.6 million copies, bringing its total to28.6 million copies, according to Bandai Namco. This figure includes both standalone sales (physical and digital) and copies bundled with the 2022 Game of the Year edition and its DLC.
To put this into perspective, beforeElden Ringlaunched, the entire Dark Souls franchise had sold 27 million copies. Now, it stands at a staggering 39 million copies sold, meaningElden Ringhas even boosted sales ofDark Souls,Dark Souls II,andDark Souls III.
Notably, Elden Ring has sold more copies in just under three years than the entire Dark Souls trilogy combinedover a longer period.
A Masterpiece for the Ages
Elden Ring has cemented itself as a masterpiece in gaming, available on PC, Steam Deck, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. These are also the platforms for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and the upcoming spin-off Elden Ring: Nightreign.
