Elden Ringhas been taking massive strides in popularity since its release on July 04, 2025. It has broken many concurrent player counts, including that on Steam.
Elden Ring is the 6th Most Played Game on Steam; Almost a Million Concurrent Players
Elden Ringis insanely popular. The team at Bandai Namco and FromSoftware has achieved many accolades, including getting a 9.5/10 in ourElden Ring Review. However, recently the game has even broken many concurrent player counts on Steam.
According to SteamDB, the action RPG attained a peak of 953,426 concurrent players on Steam alone. This is a monumental achievement, considering that previous releases have had player counts nowhere near this number.Dark Souls Remasteredpeaked at a mere 24,501 players 4 years ago. The third instalment,Dark Souls IIIreached a peak of 129,975 players.Sekirowas somewhat comparable and attained 125,315 concurrent players.
As of writing, this has placed the title as the 6th game with the highest concurrent player count. In fact earlier this month,Lost Arkwas also able to enter Steam’s top 10, and achieved a1.3 million player count. Also above Elden Ring are CS:GO, Dota 2,Cyberpunk 2077and PUBG.
Elden Ring - Game of the Year
Elden Ring has proved that it indeed deserves all the praise that it has been getting. In Japan alone, the game hassold over 280,000 units on the PlayStation ecosystem.
If you’re talking about playtime alone, the main quest and rushing through will take about30 hours. However, if you take your time with it (as most people should), the game can last over 100 hours. This is great value for money if you compare a dollar to an hour of playtime.

Elden Ring is an action RPG that was developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It was directed byHidetaka Miyazakiin collaboration withGeorge R.R. Martin.
The game has an extremely detailedcharacter creatorthat allows players to fully customize their Tarnished. Players can initially start off with one of manyclasses, such as theHero,Astrologer,Prophet,Prisoner,WretchorSamurai. Eventually, they can diverge and can create their ownbuildto cater to their specific playstyle.
As they start out in Limgrave, they will eventually branch out into other fantasticallocationssuch asStormveil Castle, theWeeping Peninsula, andLiurnia of the Lakes, among others.
What sets Elden Ring apart from other souls like games is the fact that it is set in an Open World. Also,Magichas been given much more emphasis and is much more comparable in terms of usability versus traditionalweapons.
2022: Off to a Great Start
The year has been off to such a great start in terms of video games. We’ve had unexpectedly good releases such asExpeditions: Rome. PlayStation fans also got the exclusiveHorizon Forbidden Westlast month. On the Nintendo side, we havePokemon Legends: Arceus(which sold over 6.5 million copies) in January andPokemon Scarlet and Violetto look forward to later this year. And of course, in November we’ll be getting the highly anticipatedStarfield.
