Appearing in Matthew Vaughn’s sorely underrated 2010 superhero flickKick-Ass,Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage played the role of Big Daddy. Appearing in the comic book adapted R-rated superhero movie, Cage’s character trained his daughter Hit-Girl, and turned himself into a real-life superhero.
Surprisingly even for hisKick-Asscharacter,Nicolas Cagerevealed taking inspiration from another superhero actor. Well, there’s no denying that Big Daddy kinda sounds like a modern version of Batman. Even the director Matthew Vaughn revealed how Big Daddy’s voice was brilliantly done by Cage himself.
This brings us to the direct revelation of who apparently inspired Nicolas Cage to this extent. The actor thus revealed his icon during hisAsk Me Anythingsession on Reddit. Discussing how his character Big Daddy, a former cop turned caped crusader had striking resemblance to the Dark Knight, Cage revealed taking inspiration from a legendary Batman actor.

Nicolas Cage Credited A Batman Actor For Big Daddy
Opening up, about how he referenced a less dark version of Gotham’s finest for his Big Daddy’s role, Nicolas Cage mentioned trying out a copyright-infringing voice adaptation of Adam West. During hisAsk Me AnythingonReddit, Cage credited West, for inspiring hisKick-Asscharacter.
“I would give it all to Adam West. I grew up watching him on the ’60s Batman show and he is where it begins and where it ends as Big Daddy,”
Giving all due credit toAdam Westfor being his sole inspiration forKick-Ass,Nicolas Cage later mentioned how the legendary actor reacted to this information. Discussing how he met West and credited him for his inspiration, Cage revealed what the actor said.
“I met Adam West once and I said, ‘Did you see I was channeling you?’ And he said, ‘I saw you TRY to channel me!‘”
In the end, Nicolas Cage did a phenomenal job inKick-Assportraying a dedicated yet whimsical father who shares an unconventional relationship with his daughter. His performance earned the movie a rocking 77% RT rating. Further, the success of the 2010 installment even led the creators to come up with a sequel in 2013.
