Destiny 2 fans got introduced to the Gryphon as part of theHeavy Metalmode. The latter is a limited-time PvP mode that first came out on July 11, 2025. Arguably, Gryphon is the highlight of this mode because it is the first collectable vehicle that is also a weapon! Players have until June 19, 2025, to unlock Gryphon. Obtaining the Gryphon in Destiny 2
The Gryphon is the final reward in the newly introduced PvP mode, Heavy Metal. This means that players have to get to Rank 15 to unlock it because that is the final level in the reward tracker. Playing Heavy Metal matches will grant you the Event XP needed to rank up. However, if you win, you will get more XP. Moreover, if you are running short on time, try grinding theDaily and Weekly Challengestoo.
The Event Track will also grant youReroll Chips. These can then be used to Reroll any Daily Challenge you have, allowing you to become more efficient in earning Event XP. Keep cycling through these methods until you reach Rank 15 and are eligible to get the Gryphon in Destiny 2.
Verdict on Gryphon in Destiny 2
When completing certain endgame activities, no vehicles are allowed. This means that you can’t show off your Gryphon in these missions. However, it is fairly effective when tackling certain situations. The best part about Gryphon is that it changes its elements based on your equippedSuper. Note the following effect if you wish to use Gryphon:
If the enemies are aboveMinor, the primary raw damage wouldn’t be that good. So, try keeping it around only for weaker enemies while you are reaching a certain destination or just roaming around an area. While it is a better pick compared to Sparrows and Skimmers, we might just get an even better alternative to this weaponised vehicle in the near future!
