Avengers: Infinity War Brings In Captain America Writers

Just two days after Marvel confirmedthatCaptain America: The Winter SoldierandCaptain America: Civil WardirectorsAnthony RussoandJoe Russoare directingAvengers: Infinity War Part 1andAvengers: Infinity War Part 2, a new report reveals who will pen this two-part adventure.Christopher MarkusandStephen McFeelyhave signed on to write both Infinity War movies. This shouldn’t come as too big a surprise, since they wrote 2011’sCaptain America: The First Avenger, last year’sCaptain America: The Winter Soldierand the upcomingCaptain America: Civil War.

Badass Digestreports that the writers' deals are done, and expect it to be confirmed very soon. Aside from their work on all of theCaptain Americamovies, the writing duo also pennedThor: The Dark Worldand created the ABC seriesMarvel’s Agent Carter. The site also speculates thatCaptain America: Civil War, the first of nineMarvel Phase Threemovies, will help set up “a lot of the stuff that will pay off in Infinity War. The site also claims thatThor: Ragnarok, slated for release in November 2017, will alter the MCU in the same type of way thatCaptain America: The Winter Soldierdid last year.

There is also speculation that the end ofMarvel Phase Threecould see the departure of key players behind the scenes of this sprawling universe. Marvel Studios president and producerKevin Feige’s contract with Marvel is up in either 2018 or 2019, which could mean thatAvengers: Infinity War Part 2could mark the end of this current era of Marvel movies. Of course, the studio is already planning out theirPhase Fourlineup, but the end ofMarvel Phase Three, which has essentially been teased from the very beginning, could be the point whereKevin Feigesays goodbye. It’s also worth noting thatJoss Whedonisn’t attached to direct any more Marvel movies afterAvengers: Age of Ultronhits theaters next month, so it may be feasible to speculate that a changing of the guard may be coming at Marvel Studios.
