ASUS' Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand has announced two new high-end gaming laptops.

Gaming laptops have steadily been getting better each year, and 2022 is proving to be an exceptional year. Yesterday, ASUS announced two new additions to their lineup of high-end gaming laptops, the Flow X16 and the Strix Scar 17 Special Edition.

ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 SE

The Flow X16 features a 2-in-1 design and comes packed with some serious firepower under the hood. All three versions come equipped with a AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS Mobile Processor, a 16" Mini LED QHD+ HDR-capable display, and 32GB of DDR5 memory that’s expandable up to 64GB. For graphics, the cheapest model features a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti with 4GB of GDDR6 memory, and the most expensive a 3070 Ti with 8GB of GDDR 6 memory.

Setting the X16 apart from other gaming laptops is its 2-in-1 design that allows users to bend it at the hinge a full 360-degree. For how much hardware it’s packing, the X16 weighs in at only 4.4 pounds. Along the sides you’ll find a USB 4.0 Type-C port, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, one HDMI 2.1 port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD slot. Finally, it also supports ASUS' proprietary XG Mobile eGPU just in case you wanted additional graphics power.

The ROG Strix Scar 17 SE laptop is an incremental update to the Strix Scar 17 models that launched earlier this year. It boasts a number of cosmetic changes, an Intel 16-core Core i9 processor, a 1440p display with a 240Hz refresh rate, and up to a NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti GPU. The outside frame utilizes invisible ink that leads to SCAR Runner, a first-person parkour game set within the ROG SAGA universe (you can stilldownload and play the gamewithout buying the laptop).

The ROG Flow X16 and Strix Scar 17 SE laptops launch later this year. No pricing info has been released yet.
